Black Lives Matter
#BlackLivesMatter at Different Strokes! Performing Arts Collective. It is important that we publicly verbalize our stand against the aftermath and ongoing trauma experienced across the country due to the unconscionable murders and lynchings in our country’s history of violence against Black People.
If you are white, educate yourself and your communities to be accomplices in the fight against systemic racism through direct action and empowering change. We must all work to end white supremacy and police brutality. We encourage everyone to explore these resources below, many of which have already been shared by our peers in the arts.
As a company which, by design, strives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, it is our responsibility to lift up the voices of those that white supremacy attempts to silence. We believe audiences look to the arts to see beyond themselves and their own boundaries. We believe the arts can be a valuable educational medium capable of bridging cultural gaps. We believe the arts can be a catalyst for social change and personal transformation. We believe in the power of art-making.
